Big Apple Blues (BAB) is a roots-blues & blues-fusion band whose members have played and toured with some of the all-time blues greats. In concerts we play a mix of down-home, New York Style edgy & raw traditional blues, with our original repertoire that music critics have classified as “Big Apple Blues Sound”. Back in 2012, Dr Blues managed to recruit a USA-wide known group of mostly NYC-based resourceful musicians with signature vibe, playing techniques, feel-good vibe, immense touring and recording experience and positive personalities. The BAB music (and beyond) brotherhood among Dr Blues (bass), Zach Zunis (guitar), Barry Harrison (drums), Jim Alfredson (B3 organ) and Anthony Kane (harmonica) is a proof that success in ensemble music comes from consistency of vision and collaborative effort. Big Apple Blues’ unique 2015 album concept “Energy” (2015, StoneToneRecords) that captured the feel of one day of life in New York City, has been played on radio worldwide, sold millions of digital distributions, and led to tours in the US, Europe, and Asia. Our latest album Manhattan Alley (2018, StoneToneRecords) (continues to celebrate the soul of the city that never sleeps with our genre-stretching grovey blues-fusion instrumentals. Additional members of the band have included some of the best known NYC blues cats, such as NY Blues Hall of Famer Hugh Pool (guitar, vocals, harmonica), Tom Papadatos (drums and percussions), Chris Eminizer (saxophone), Jeff McErlain, the guitar genius behind "TrueFire" and one of the most prolific blues-rock writers (http://jeffmcerlain.com/).
