Big Apple Blues

Big Apple Blues Brings the Sound of NYC to Ghent’s Missy Sippy

Some bands play blues. Others live inside it.

On May 15, Big Apple Blues brings the pulse of New York City straight to the stage of Missy Sippy Blues & Roots Club – featuring two full sets of blues shaped by the energy, grit, and soul of New York City.

Formed around a shared obsession with real blues, soul, funk, and the sound of New York after dark, Big Apple Blues has built its identity around high-energy live performances that feel raw, tight, and completely alive. Their music blends classic blues foundations with jazz, soul, shuffle grooves, and the restless energy of Manhattan itself.

And honestly? Missy Sippy might be the perfect place for it.

Hidden in the historic center of Ghent, the club has become one of Europe’s most beloved blues venues – a place where musicians and music lovers pack tightly into a room that feels more like New Orleans than Belgium. The lights stay low, the crowd stays close, and the music does the talking.

This isn’t a “sit quietly and watch” kind of show.

It’s two full live sets of:

  • dirty NYC blues grooves
  • deep Hammond organ textures
  • guitar solos that stretch just enough
  • rhythms that hit somewhere between blues club and downtown jam session
  • and the kind of atmosphere where one song casually turns into a ten-minute ride

Big Apple Blues has already built a reputation for turning Ghent nights into sold-out, high-energy sessions, with previous shows described as “one unforgettable night” and “pure energy.”

So if your perfect night involves:
good music, crowded blues bars, strong drinks, loud applause, and leaving the venue thinking “that was different” – this one belongs on your calendar.
